Introduction[ | ]
This hyper can use her mobility and disruptive skills to single out and destroy her enemies. More than any other hyper, she benefits from isolating her prey. Proper use of stealth and flanking is essential to victory.
Story[ | ]
The night was black as pitch. Nary a soul could be found on the streets, for legend said that the spirits come out on dark nights at the end of the month. The shops were closed, and their workers were huddled in their rooms, sleeping fitfully. Even the brothels turned their lights low, and the beggars returned to their secluded corners. It was the perfect night for a certain kind of work."Gah..."
To a random passer-by it sounded like someone breathing in their sleep, but the guards knew better. They broke down the door and charged into the inky blackness of the room, greeted only by silence. There in the center was their master, sitting in his chair, head lolling to one side. A small, deep mark in the back of his neck was the fatal blow, still oozing warm blood. The guards recoiled in horror, not from the corpse but from the shape of the wound, that of a cherry blossom petal.
"Th-the Sakura Clan..."
Only a skilled assassin could penetrate their compound completely unseen and murder their lord with only a breath to alert them. And the Sakura Clan was the most fearsome of all, an order of assassins stretching back more than 300 years. Assassins were not rare in this land but the all-female Sakura killers were infamous for having their hands in the deaths of lords and generals alike, changing the course of history with the point of a knife.
Kurenai worked harder than any other assassin to please the masters of the Sakura Clan. Her comrades tell the story of her initiation, where the master gifted her the blade that would be used for her first mission. It is tradition that the first blood spilled with this blade be that of the assassin herself, to prove that she will not fear death as she deals it to others. Without a word, Kurenai buried the dagger in her own stomach, kneeled, and waited to be dismissed. Minutes passed before the master gave her leave, and she rose and departed the room with the knife still stuck in her body. She collapsed in the hall, whispering something about her father as they carried her away.
A true assassin must master two skills. One is the art of killing, and the other is command of their emotions. Kurenai feels nothing, and questions nothing when her master gives her orders. That gives her the power to end any life, anywhere, so long as her master wills it."Your wish is my command, master."
